Porter Adventist Hospital Launches Online Health and Medical Store
DENVER (March 6, 2009) - The Denver area’s first hospital online store – the Porter Marketplace – is now available and offers a first-time shopping discount of 20 percent on all health and medical products.
The online store carries a wide variety of products such as home medical equipment, post-surgical and rehabilitation products, fitness videos and accessories, nutritional supplements, cooking and parenting books, videos, cosmetics and gifts. The ecommerce site is the first phase of an integrated Healthcare Retail service that will eventually encompass the Porter Gift Shop and Apothecare Pharmacy under the bricks and mortar location of the Porter Marketplace.
By working with medical and clinical staff, the site’s administrators will provide an easy and convenient way for patients and staff to order needed products prior to the patient’s discharge – making multiple stops for medical supplies on the way home or shortly after a thing of the past. Prices on all products are competitive.
“When you go home from the hospital after a procedure, you often have a list of things to purchase, such as a blood pressure monitor, a knee brace or a cane,” said Sharon Pappas, RN, PhD, and chief nursing officer at Porter. “Now, a patient or family member will be able to order everything they’ll need and have it shipped to their home and waiting.”
There are many products available for healthcare professionals to purchase as well, such as stethoscopes and defibrillators.
